Clay Animation

During this field trip, students learn the basics of stop-motion animation and narrative storytelling. Groups design their own clay characters and then produce a short animated film using multimedia tools.

The following clay animation was made by a group of 2nd graders in collaboration with Stage Write, a San Francisco based non-profit that brings theater to public school students. "The Lemon Tree" is a play about a young woman who finds a magical lemon tree; this animation will be played in unison with the original play that will be performed this fall.

This animation was made by group of 6th graders from Sacramento Adventist Academy in Carmichael, California. Watch as the space ship flies through space to land on Mars, only to discover a whole world of creatures awaiting its arrival!
